sticky chicken wings with homemade 'slaw
from start to plate : 45 minutes
good for : eating with your hands
'slaw? 'slaw, you say? well if you are as geeky as we are and love 'diners, drive-ins and dives' with guy fieri, then you know he loves 'slaw! and everytime he says it, it makes us chuckle! 'slaw for those non-american viewers out there, refers to the humble coleslaw! we use a combi of shredded cabbage, grated carrot, sliced red onion, mayo, vinegar and seasoning.
inspired by the temperatures hitting double figures, we decided on this finger lickin' summer chicken dish. the recipe comes from the good food website, for a change, and is a perfect summer (spring!) bbq dish. recently we've been experimenting with different meat, such as duck, lamb shoulder, and livers. this time we used chicken wings, drawn in by the cheap price....a massive container cost just £2.
the homemade sauce that accompanies the wings creates a sticky glaze whilst under the hot grill. this creates a great taste sensation, with mouthfuls varying from crunchy skin to silky meat. the excess sauce goes perfectly with the side dish of cous cous.
is it worth waiting for?
so good we couldn't wait till summer! a perfect bbq dish, on a budget.
